DRESSING TOWARDS SUCCESS

HOUSEHOLD ITEMS

& FOODBANK

In conjunction with WINZ or other local agencies we can supply individuals or families with assistance when times are hard. If a client is referred to us we can supply

  • Food parcels
  • Clothing and appropriate accessories for a job interview
  • Furniture or household items from our shop
  • Christmas parcels

We are here to help, without judging.

 EMERGENCY FIRST AID

We now have a defibrillator on site to help in emergencies if anyone collapses or has sudden heart problems. This was funded by a grant from Lion Foundation. We hope that we never have occasion to use it but are prepared if an emergency arises!

                Office for casual hire

VENUE HIRE

We have three rooms which can be hired out on a casual or regular basis for both community and private use. (Conditions apply.)

One is office size, suitable for small groups only (six-eight people).

Our main room is large enough for at least thirty people and has a variety of seating options. Trestle tables are available or the floor can be cleared to form an open space. Our kitchen has tea & coffee making facilities, sink, fridge, microwave, bench top oven and water cooler. Both rooms have a white-board. (Picture below shows main room.)

The third room is our corner building situated on our old site at  216 HBC Highway. It has a kitchen, air conditioning, play area and plenty of shade. There are tables and chairs for thirty or more, including some childsized ones. (See Childcare page for photos.)

Our rates start at $7.50 per hour for community groups and $15 per hour for other hirers.

There is parking available on both sites.

All our rooms now have disabled access. Our new site has toilet facilities for disabled users also.

We will negotiate with regular users. Contact us.

FOODBANK

HBC Community House FOODBANK provides food parcels to local families, referred by various agencies, who need some temporary support to help them through a difficult time. (Contact us if you need more information about being referred.)

Each parcel contains a variety of basic food items that can be used to make meals for several days. We aim to include things for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks for children’s lunch boxes. We can usually provide basic food for dogs or cats also. A typical parcel for an average family of two adults and two children has a value of over $100.

We try to stock gluten free items as these can be very expensive and more and more people seem to have this intolerance.

CHRISTMAS PARCELS

At Christmas time the agencies we work closely with send us names of individuals and families they would like to have a little extra assistance over this special period.

We provide Christmas parcels to these families the week before Christmas. Parcels contain the normal staple food items but extra things such as mince pies, cake, lollies, chocolate, drinks, chips, puddings etc. We do not supply gifts as other agencies in the area do this.
